Catering and food supply tenders in the Nordics
Schools, kindergartens, hospitals, armed forces and care homes buy food and catering all year round, and contracts are typically re-tendered every few years. MarketScope collects these tenders and their winners from TED, Doffin, Hilma and the German portal in Lithuania, the Nordics, Germany and Poland, and follows food market, price and regulation news.
What we monitor
The public sector buys food in two ways: as product supply to an institution's own kitchen, and as a full catering service where a contractor cooks and delivers the meals. Both matter to a producer: in the first case you can bid yourself, in the second you can supply the winning caterer or wholesaler.
Food supply
The whole CPV 15 group: meat, fish, dairy, bread and bakery, oils, beverages, plus fruit, vegetables and animal products (CPV 0311, 032, 0314).
Catering services
Canteen and catering services (CPV 555) and meal delivery (5532) for schools, kindergartens, hospitals, care homes and the armed forces.
Market, prices and food safety
FoodNavigator, Just Food, Food Manufacture, FreshPlaza, Livsmedelsnyheter, ATL, Landbrugsavisen and Maaseudun Tulevaisuus: prices, inflation, food safety and regulation.
Competitors and winners
Compass Group, Sodexo, ISS, Fazer, Palmia, Martin & Servera, Menigo, ASKO and other caterers and wholesalers, plus Lithuanian food producers – more than 30 companies in the radar.
The ready-made food and catering pack
The pack follows TED contract notices, prior information notices and award notices in ten countries, plus Doffin, Hilma and oeffentlichevergabe.de. For news it uses 23 sources, including the municipal titles Kuntalehti, Dagens Samhälle and Kommunen.dk, which cover school and institutional catering, and Google News queries on school meals and public catering in seven languages.
Six rules separate catering for institutions, food supply tenders, caterers and competitors, food prices and inflation, food safety and risks. Scoring reads the CPV code to place each notice in one of 14 groups (dairy, meat, school meals or canteen services, for example), ranks Lithuania first and the Nordic countries equally.

Frequently asked questions
Which food tenders does the pack cover?
The whole CPV 15 group (food and beverages), agricultural and animal products (CPV 0311, 032, 0314), canteen and catering services (555) and meal delivery (5532) on TED, Doffin, Hilma and the German portal.
Will I see who won a school catering tender?
Yes, once the award notice is published. Winners appear in a list with their number of wins, and Norwegian, Finnish and Danish companies get company register data.
Why does the pack follow food prices and regulation?
Prices, inflation and food safety rules change tender conditions and competitors' room to manoeuvre. Separate rules keep this news apart from the tenders, so it does not bury the opportunities.
